COMPETITION

 

Competition details for 2022 Winter Season are here.

Athletics West run a Winter Competition between the months of May and August each year. The competition offers a cross country run and a road walk on alternate Saturdays at various venues across the metropolitan area.

 

All Little Athletics registered athletes are eligible to compete. There are no extra fees charged as it is included in the registration for the Summer Season. Athletes compete in the same age group they were registered in for the previous summer.

 

The program commences at 1.00pm with age groups rotating through the time slots each week. The races are a mix of Scratch races and Handicap races based upon times recorded previously during the season. Competitors check in on arrival and then marshal at the start line when their event is called ~15mins before competing. Competitors must wear their registration numbers and age tags on the Cockburn Centre uniform. U7 & U8 athletes may compete in their Club uniform.

 

To be eligible to compete at the State Championships Competition at the end of the Season, competitors must have competed in a minimum number of runs or walks depending on the number of events held during the season.

TRAINING

VENUE: Manning Park

​

Cockburn L.A.C offers cross country training to all registered Cockburn athletes at Manning Park in Spearwood during the winter season. Athletes do not need to attend these sessions to compete in the competition.

 

Training commences Tuesday 30th march. Training Times are 4.45pm, Tuesday & Thursday.

Training Venue Most sessions are held at the north end of Manning Park [parking on Janson Rd] Occasional sessions will be held on the bush tracks at the south end of Manning Park [parking on Azelia Rd within the park]
